Alcoholics Autonomous is a site conceived by two members of AA with long term sobriety who are not "Kool-Aid" drinkers - we pull the covers off the bed and shine the light of truth on how AA members can sometimes distort the true, powerful, and successful message of the AA steps. We are believers in the 12 step process, but we do hold the steps, AA literature, and general AA community up to scrutiny. Our purpose is to debunk the myths surrounding Alcoholics Anonymous for members and non-members alike, and to give newcomers to AA an additional way of looking at a successful route to long-term sobriety based on our experiences in and out of the AA program and meetings. In our show on blogtalkradio.com, we discuss many literature-related and real-life topics around AA, including problems other than alcohol such as drug dependency and co-dependency.
Mike and Dan are irreverent - mostly in a funny way, but also in a way that can, at times, be very critical of the big book, people in AA, 12 Steps and 12 Traditions, and AA / CA / NA meetings, so be prepared for a little controversy as you listen in!
